PASTOR ROBERT L. MADISON & FIRST LADY VERA MADISON
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
ROBERT L. MADISON
ELDER ROBERT L. MADISON hails as the longest continued standing Elder in Washington Temple Church of God in Christ. He has stood steadfast, unmoveable and always abounding the work of the Lord since he initially became a member in November 1961. He lives by his favorite scripture: "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work."
He was ordained as an Elder in 1967 by the late Bishop O.M. Kelly through the recommendation of the late Bishop F.D. Washington, Founder and Pastor of Washington Temple Church of God in Christ. The same year, he was among the first graduates of the O.M. Kelly Religious Training Institute.
In 1975, Elder Madison was appointed Assistant Pastor by Bishop Washington serving the position for 13 years. After the passing of Bishop F.D. Washington on January 12, 1988, he worked diligently during the interim period under the pasturage of the late International Presiding Bishop J.O. Patterson. On July 28, 1988, Presiding Bishop Patterson announced that the new Pastor of Washington Temple Church of God in Christ was Elder Robert L. Madison. The official installation was held on October 21, 1988.
Among his major accomplishments, is the opening of the sister church in October 2008, the Washington Temple Church of God in Christ of Long Island in Brentwood, NY. A great deal of the work and designs were performed personally by Pastor Master. In addition to serving as pastor of two churches, Elder Madison also serves as the Superintendent of the North Shore District, member of the Executive Board of the Eastern New York First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and an Administrative Assistant to the Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop James Gaylord.
Elder Madison stands today as the pastor or one of the most prestigious churches in the Brooklyn area, the church with universal outreach. He is dedicated to winning souls for Christ. He passionately encourages the church to focus even the more on evangelism. Through his teachings and guidance, the church is in readiness and has already launched out to impact this community, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Elder Robert L. Madison is the husband of the late Evangelist Vera Madison, father of two children Angela and Robert and grandfather.
